Palma is an exercise in constructive honesty. Its name is a tribute from Marc Morro to his hometown, Palma de Mallorca, a gesture that speaks of roots and the humility of an object designed with the aspiration of traveling far while carrying its origin with it. Sancal has recovered this design from Morro’s personal archive to evolve it towards a comfort piece to be enjoyed. The raw spirit of the original piece remains, but it is balanced with a friendly language that softens its structural force. The architecture of the armchair is defined by a tubular metal structure upon which the curved surfaces of the seat and backrest rest, made of curved plywood slats. The generous solid ash armrests add a warm, organic counterpoint. To enhance comfort, Palma offers an optional cushion that integrates discreetly between the slats, keeping the constructive nakedness that makes this piece unique, always visible.
