With Twins, designer Júlia Esqué explores how “wardrobe” can completely transform the identity of an object. Using a structure inspired by the typology of a cinema seat, two pieces are born that, despite being the same, could not be more different. Formal Twin presents itself as serene and restrained. The geometry is perceived with precision, and the piping traces its silhouette. The piece feels firm and elegant, ready to take its place with authority and calm. In Drama Twin, the twin is transformed. The fabric falls and folds, playing with the form and suggesting movement. It becomes approachable, expressive, even playful. It is as if the armchair were dressing up for a special occasion. Júlia has also curated special editions: in the case of the Formal Twin, these play with contrasting piping tones to further emphasize the silhouette; in the Drama Twin version, the “skirts” introduce a more technical fabric that adds structure and a contemporary look. Thus, by playing with color, volume, and movement, the Designer’s Editions accentuate the iconic character of each piece.
