MATIZ reimagines traditional weaving techniques by shifting the focus from pre-dyed yarns to a more experimental and expressive process. Each rug begins with a hand-woven base in a single color. Once completed, a second contrasting shade is applied by hand, allowing the pigment to interact organically with the woven surface.
- 65% Hand-spun Afghan wool. Afghan wool comes from sheep grazing high in the mountains of Afghanistan. Naturally wavy, it is a very durable material with a coarse texture. Due to the wool’s crimp and the irregularity in the spinning, weaving it results in a unique, aged appearance.
- 35% New Zealand wool. New Zealand wool is generally known for being the whitest, cleanest, purest, and most natural in the world. Its softness is due in part to the altitude and vegetation available to the flocks. It is guaranteed to be cruelty-free.
