Discovery reflects Lucia Eames’ ongoing practice of observing, collecting and composing fragments of nature into spontaneous scenes. Unlike other pieces in the Collection, this rug directly translates one of her hand drawings, preserving the immediacy and freedom of the original line. Combining kilim weaving with embroidery, the drawing is layered onto a neutral base as if placed on a blank page. This technique allows for a precise yet light graphic expression, where elements seem to float across the surface. Its flat and durable construction makes it especially suitable for spaces where artistic expression and practicality must coexist.
